"Because of You" is a melody written by American pop artist Kelly Clarkson for 2-nd studio album, Breakaway (2004). It was composed by Clarkson with its music producers David Hodges and Ben

Moody. It was ready on August 16, 2005 by RCA Records, as the 3-rd song from Breakaway. Clarkson  wrote "Because of You" when she was 16 years old to cope with the distress caused by her parents' divorce. She wanted the melody to be included on her first album, Thankful (2003), but her record label rejected the single. She then polished the song with Hodges and Moody before successfully convincing her label to include it on Breakaway.

Lyrically, "Because of You" explores the pain of a relationship with her father. Critics writed that the lyrics are Clarkson's ode to her father. The melody begins with a piano-led melody and as it launches into the chorus, the sound of a roaring guitar becomes apparent. "Because of You" taked positive reviews from music critics, who complimented its expressive lyrics, creative arrangement and Clarkson's vocal prowess. Music became 1 of Clarkson's most successful singles around the world; in the United States, it peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over 1.5 million downloads. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Internationally, "Because of You" topped the charts in the Netherlands, Denmark and Switzerland as well as reaching the top 10 in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
